Saturday: I went snowboarding for the second time ever at Camelback! I went last year in February with Dean, Ten, and Lulu as well, but this time we did the night ticket.
Our Hertz reservation had a SNAFU involving trying to talk to an agent at a kiosk (“Real human available in this box! Please wait while you are connected to our nearest agent in Oklahama.”) to get a car for a guaranteed reservation that was 3 hours late, almost bailing on the whole trip, and then proceeding to finally go but getting there just as the sun set at 5pm.
I saw Clay there too! (He did the day pass.) I’m getting better at leafing, but didn’t have much time to practice before the snow got really icy, the falls got really hard, and my butt/ego got really bruised. :( I want to go for a longer weekend trip some other time this season, so I can work on foundations some more. Colleen lent me her ski pants, gloves, and goggles for this trip which was a GAME CHANGER.
Sunday: Instead of snow, the condensation was pure icy rain today. It was a real slow day of loafing around, brunching at Tartine with Ariel (happy birthday!), walking through puddles to get from West Village to Chinatown because no train seemed to be working, chillin’ with Michelle and Grace in Chinatown, and spending all afternoon doing laundry. I’m still in so much pain from this week in general (climbing on Monday, yoga on Wednesday, striking/MMA classes at Mushin on Thursday, snowboarding on Saturday…) that I can barely move my shoulders back or sit down. :( I wish I had tomorrow off to recover…
