I took a first day of work selfie (sort of) when I started my first job in August 2012, so I took another one today.
From 2012:
I wore almost the same thing… heh. (I think my legs are way more toned now…. the never-ending life goal.)
Today was a mostly logistical day, though I did sit in on 3 hours of client meetings. It honestly feels a lot like consulting, and since I took great liberties to keep my consulting environment laid back and relaxed, not much has changed except that it’s a scaled down place and the coffee tastes terrible.
I thought it would be weird to work with so few people, but it feels like one sub-section of the office I used to work at, except there would just be no more people walking in the doors. I have a designated desk (or rather, part of a long table) with my own big machine (a 17″ Macbook Pro and a 27″ iMac) that I don’t need to bring home with me (obviously), regular hours, and a sense of place in the world. I feel like I’ve been floating for the past 2 years, after my initial project ended and I was kind of left scrambling for myself. I’m not sure if this is steady ground yet — in fact, I know it’s not, but it’s kind of nice to have a place to sit down at every day.
