Ghost is Gorgeous

I posted about Ghost a little while ago (uh, almost a month ago), and since then, have casually tried it out. I wasn’t sure what to *do* with the blog, but I think I will start trying to write essays when my brain has more than 5 minutes to focus on something. Right now, I put in a filler essay I have been sort of dabbling in writing.(1)

There are some pretty gorgeous themes on Ghost so far, almost like Tumblr when it first launched.

The two column! <3 I don’t like the lack of control for the red text on top (the theme automatically takes the first x # of words from your text), and I have been doubtful about the usability of long two column type layouts, but I can’t help but love the margins.(2)

The UI of Ghost itself doesn’t stray far from its promise — it is a blogging platform at its core, with no bells and whistles.

I haven’t written enough to explore very much, but so far, I like what I’m seeing.

Footnotes:

(1) After I graduated and move to New York, I got the post-grad emos (many feelingz) and started writing about my twenties. I eventually got over my emo, making it harder to generate some thoughts that weren’t a repetitive drone of the same thoughts and concerns, but maybe, just maybe, I’ll get to writing more of these essays. (There are pieces of it here and there — “Funk of the Twenties”.)

(2) Going to cross-post this on my design blog. I just realized that a lot of my better thoughts go on this blog, but the whole point of starting that blog was to show that I had some perspective and POV in this field. Oops.
